Aaron Finch on David Warner: Aaron Finch, who retired from ODI cricket, has described his teammate David Warner as the best contender for the next ODI captain of the Australian team. He has said that Warner has been the captain in the past and he has also proved himself to be a better captain. Finch has also said that now the captaincy ban should be removed from Warner.
Aaron Finch was the captain of Australia in both formats of limited overs cricket (ODI and T20). Now after his retirement from ODI cricket, it is a matter of discussion that who will be the next ODI captain of the Australian team. David Warner’s name is being suggested but he was banned for life as captain after the ball-tampering incident on the tour of South Africa in 2018.
‘Warner has been a better captain’
While giving his views on this matter on ‘Triple M Radio’, Finch says, ‘He (David Warner) was exceptional when he was the captain. I too have played under his leadership. He strategizes incredibly. He is such a captain, under whose leadership all players like to play. On the leadership ban on Warner, Finch says, ‘I am not 100% sure about Cricket Australia’s stand on this matter, but I want to see this decision reversed.’
Finch to remain captain of Australia’s T20 team
Aaron Finch has said goodbye to this 50-over format after the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand. He will now play only T20 Internationals. In the T20 World Cup 2022, the command of Australia team will be in his hands.
