Airtel Hikes Tariff: Airtel made mobile tariff expensive! 28 days recharge plan 57% costlier

Airtel Hikes Mobile Tariff: Bharti Airtel has decided to increase the mobile tariff. The company has made the 28-day recharge plan of Rs 99 costlier by 57 per cent. Now for the 28-day tariff plan, instead of Rs 99, Rs 155 will have to be paid. At present, the company has rolled out this recharge plan in Haryana and Odisha and it is believed that it can be rolled out across the country in the coming days.

Airtel has discontinued the Rs 99 Minimum Recharge Plan with a validity period of 28 days. Under this plan, the customer was being charged a call rate of 2.5 paise per second along with 200 megabytes of data. Now Airtel is offering this plan for Rs 155 with unlimited calling and 300 SMS with 1 GB data. This plan is being offered only to 2G customers. It is believed that the company can discontinue all plans below Rs 155. To get SMS facility, customers will now have to buy a plan of Rs 155.

ICICI Securities has said in its brokerage note that Bharti Airtel has launched market testing tariff plan in Haryana and Odisha circles. According to the brokerage report, the company wants to see the response of the people. This tariff hike will not have any effect on 4G customers. Even before this, Bharti Airtel had taken the first step in 2021 by increasing the minimum recharge plan from Rs 79 to Rs 99 in select circles.

After this step of Bharti Airtel, it is believed that other telecom companies can also take such a decision. It has been said in the report that in the midst of the current environment, Bharti has decided to increase the tariff first. The company will wait for how other people react to this. If it does not get support then the old tariff plan may have to be restored.
