Amazon is going to lay off again, this time 9000 employees will be shown the way out


Amazon Layoffs Update: Once again the news of retrenchment is coming from Amazon. Amazon is preparing to lay off about 9000 people in its different departments. Most of the layoffs will be done in Amazon Web Services, People, Experience, Advertising and Tswitch. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has said these things regarding layoffs in the memo sent to the employees. He said that this is very important for the success of the company in the long run.

Earlier in November 2022, Amazon has laid off about 18,000 people from its different departments. Employees of all levels i.e. Grade 1 to Grade 7 were affected by this retrenchment. Amazon had asked the managers to identify the problems coming in the performance of the employees. Amazon has 1.5 million employees all over the world. The employees who will be retrenched will be given 24 hours notice and severance pay. This will be the fifth biggest layoff in Amazon’s history.

Andy Jassy said that the challenging conditions in the economy persist, due to which this year has remained difficult. He said that in the last few years we had done tremendous hiring. On November 30, at the NYT Dealbook Summit, Andy Jassy defended the layoffs, saying that it is very important for the company to reduce expenses.

Last week, Facebook’s parent company Meta has also announced the layoff of 10,000 employees. The company has already laid off 11,000 employees in the past. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said in a message to his employees that, we are going to cut the number of our team by 10,000. Along with this, he said that it has been decided to abolish 5,000 such posts for which the hiring was not done till now.
