Big change in finance ministry before last budget of Modi government Sanjay Malhotra becomes revenue secretary


Budget 2023-24On February 1, 2023, before the Modi government will present the last full budget of its second worker, the government has made a big change in its budget making team. The government has decided to appoint Sanjay Malhotra as the Revenue Secretary. At present, Sanjay Malhotra is posted as Secretary, Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance.

Sanjay Malhotra will be posted as Officer on Special Duty in the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance. The current Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj is going to retire on November 30, 2022. Vivek Joshi will take over as Secretary, Financial Services in place of Sanjay Malhotra. Vivek Joshi is currently posted as Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sanjay will replace Malhotra after his posting as Officer on Special Duty in the Revenue Department. At the same time, the government has appointed Manoj Govil as the secretary of company affairs.

Sanjay Malhotra and Vivek Joshi will now have the responsibility of preparing the budget for 2023-24. All these will be part of the budget team of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. After the appointment of the post of Revenue Secretary, Sanjay Malhotra will be responsible for simplification of tax laws along with increasing the collection of direct and indirect taxes.

With this, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the general budget to be presented in the year 2023 will have to be prepared in such a way that the pace of economic development of the country remains intact. Along with this, the Finance Minister said that through the budget, efforts will also be made to curb inflation.

Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that in the budget to be presented next year, the priorities regarding economic development will be at the top. Inflation will also be dealt with. The Finance Minister said that the global crisis that has arisen regarding energy, fertilizer and food will be ensured that it does not affect the people of India. On February 1, 2023, Nirmala Sitharaman will present the last full budget of the second term of the Modi government for the fifth time in a row. The series of pre-budget meetings of the Finance Ministry with different ministries, departments and union territories has started from October 10, 2022, which will continue till November 10.
