CNG-PNG Price Hike: The people of Mumbai have suffered a severe setback of inflation. Mahanagar Gas Limited has decided to increase the prices of CNG and PNG from midnight (November 5, 2022). Mahanagar Gas Limited has announced to increase the prices of CNG by Rs 3.5 per kg and pipe gas ie PNG by Rs 1.5 per unit.
Mahanagar Gas Limited has taken this decision after increasing the prices of natural gas in domestic as well as international market. At present, according to the website of Mahanagar Gas Limited, CNG is being supplied in Mumbai at Rs 86 per kg and PNG at Rs 52.50 per unit. Earlier, the company had decided to increase the price of CNG-PNG in October 2022 when CNG was increased by Rs 6 per kg and PNG by Rs 4 per SCM.
In fact, from October 1, 2022, the government had decided to increase the price of domestic natural gas by 40 percent. The price of natural gas has been increased from $6.1 per mmBtu to $8.57 per mmBtu. Earlier this year, on April 1, 2022, the price of natural gas was increased to $ 6.10 per mmBtu. With effect from October 1, 2022, it has been increased to $ 8.57 per mmBtu. That is, the direct prices have been increased by up to 40 percent. There was a double price hike in April. In addition, the government raised the price of deep-field natural gas from $9.92 per mmBtu to $12.6 per mmBtu.
However, due to the cost of CNG, traveling will become expensive, while the cost of cooking food in the kitchen is going to increase due to the cost of PNG. Due to the Russo-Ukraine war, there has been an increase in the prices of natural gas in the international markets.
