Sania was born on 15 November 1986 in Mumbai. His hometown is Hyderabad. His father Imran Mirza was a sports journalist and mother Naseema Mirza was in printing. Sania started playing tennis from the age of 6. His father started feeding him from the age of 6 from Nizam Club Hyderabad. Later Sania was given initial training by CK Bhupathi who is the father of tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi. By the time Sania was 12 years old, her father was unable to manage her expenses and she started looking for a sponsor.
After learning professional tennis from the Senate Tennis Academy, Secunderabad, Sania joined the Ace Tennis Academy in the United States. She along with her family lived in USA for two years and also took training there.
won many awards
Sania won 10 singles and 13 doubles titles as a junior player. He got his first international victory when he teamed up with Leander Paes to win the bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2002 Asian Games. He was awarded many awards, the main ones being Arjuna Award, WTA New Comer of the Year, Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Padma Bhushan etc.
