Gems & Jewelery Export: The total export of gems and jewelery grew by 27.17 per cent year-on-year to Rs 30,195.21 crore in September 2022. The Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) gave this information on Monday. According to GJEPC data, the gems and jewelery exports stood at Rs 23,743.46 crore during September 2021.
Total exports grew by 12.82 percent in the period April-September, 2022
In the period April-September, 2022, the total export of gems and jewelery increased by 12.82 per cent to Rs 1,61,545.06 crore. It was Rs 1,43,187.15 crore in the same period a year ago. Apart from this, the total export of polished and polished diamonds (CPD) increased by 21.99 per cent to Rs 17,107.64 crore in September this year. It was Rs 14,023.78 crore in September, 2021.
Total export of plain gold jewelery also increased
As per the data, the total export of plain gold jewelery grew by 30.78 per cent to Rs 2,556.40 crore in September. It was Rs 1,954.78 crore in the same month a year ago. Total exports of all types of studded gold jewelery also increased by 22.57 per cent to Rs 4,510.77 crore in September from Rs 3,680.08 crore in September last year.
Gold imports decreased – demand seen in October
However, according to the recent data in the country, the import of gold is decreasing. With the festive season approaching and festivals like Karva Chauth, Dhanteras, Deepawali approaching, the demand for gems and jewelry is also witnessing an increase. However, this demand will be seen more in October and it will be reflected in its October figures.
