IAS Training Stages: Candidates who clear the UPSC exam and get a particular rank get the IAS cadre. However, the struggle of these candidates does not end here. After this, they have to go through a long training process, which they are appointed only after successfully passing it. This is a kind of training given to the general candidate to prepare them to take up the post like IAS so that they can do their work properly. Do you know after passing through which stages this training is completed.
this is how it starts
IAS training begins with a foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (known as Labasna) in Mussoorie. In this, apart from the selected candidates for the post of IAS, the candidates selected for IPS, IFS and IRS are also included. Basic administrative skills are taught in this course.

There are many activities in the academy which make the candidate physically and mentally strong. One of these is the trekking of the Himalayas. Apart from this, India Day is also celebrated here. In this, the candidates have to demonstrate the culture of their respective states. In this, civil service officers show ‘unity in diversity’ of the country through dress, folk dance or food.
Seven days training has to be done while living in the village
Civil service officers are made to visit villages. Here they are also given training. For this training, these officers have to go to a remote village of the country and stay for 7 days. Staying here, he gets acquainted with the people of the village, their life and their problems. They share their experiences which gives officers an opportunity to understand their real challenges.
Professional training starts after foundation
After three months of foundation training, everyone goes to their respective academies. Only the IAAS trainees stay at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (Labasana). After this their professional training starts. During this, they are given different information about each sector of administration and governance.

Not only this, there is a winter study tour during professional training, which is popularly known as ‘Bharat Darshan’. During this they get a chance to understand the diversity of India. Professional training is followed by an exam.
finally on job practical training
After one year of academic training and then field training, Masters degree in Public Management is given by JNU. After academic training, IAS officers go to the state of their cadre for one year of on-the-job practical training, where training in state laws, land management, etc. is imparted at the State Administrative Academy.
After this, every trainee IAS will be sent to the Assistant Collector and Assistant Collector in any one district for on-the-job training. Sent as Executive Magistrate, where there is one year training.
