Devaki and Vasudev also observed this fast to protect their children.

Chhath Puja – Chhath, the great festival of faith, this fast is observed on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This festival is of four days. On the first day Nahay Khay, second Kharna, on the third day Chhath Puja i.e. by offering Arghya to the setting sun and on the fourth day to the rising sun, the fast is observed. This fast which started after Kharna is kept waterless for 36 hours. With the blessings of Chhathi Maiya and Surya Dev, there is no harm to the children in life and they get strength and power like the Sun.

Ahoi Ashtami – Ahoi Ashtami fast is observed on Ashtami of Kartik Krishna Paksha for better health and happy life of children. In this, Seh is worshiped after sunset and then the fast is concluded by offering Arghya to the stars. There is a belief regarding Ahoi Ashtami that the women whose child dies in the womb do not have to bear this sorrow due to the effect of this fast.

Putrada Ekadashi – Putrada Ekadashi is celebrated twice a year, one in Paush Shukla Paksha and the other in Shravan Shukla Paksha. This fast is considered very fruitful to save children from trouble and for their welfare.
